Purpose and Role

To deliver system engineering tasks and contribute to the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects. The Systems Engineer will support the senior colleagues in capturing requirements, developing system architectures, coordinate interface, and produce verification evidence in collaboration with the wider project engineering team.

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the definition, documentation, and delivery of systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle (concept, design, integration, V&V, commissioning).
  • Capture, analyze, and manage system and stakeholder requirements, ensuring full traceability through to verification evidence.
  • Assist in developing and managing system architectures, functional models, and interface definitions.
  • Support integration activities between all engineering functions including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, control and software systems.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of verification and validation strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Support the development of safety case input, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Interface with subcontractors and suppliers to manage technical deliverables and ensure compliance with system requirements.
  • Ensure system configurations, interfaces, and baselines are controlled through established configuration management and change control processes.
  • Participate and contribute to technical reviews, peer reviews, and design assurance activities.
  • Support technical bids, proposals, and cost/schedule estimates related to systems engineering.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, toolsets and standards across the business.
  • Apply systems engineering tools and model-based methods where applicable.
  • Help develop and maintain a good working relationship with clients and suppliers.
  • Supporting the scheduling and tasking information to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager.
  • To assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department.
  • To support business change, via effective change management processes in the context of Aquila Nuclear Engineering fast-paced regulatory environment.
  • Be prepared to undertake travel in the UK and overseas when required.
  • Attend various business meetings as required.
  • Any other job duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post.
  • Understanding of GDPR/data protection legislation procedures and requirements in a highly regulated environment. Comply with GDPR and with CAN data protection policy.
